Synopsis

This course introduces students to the literature of the New Testament. It includes an overview of content and major themes. The course also introduces the socio-economic, political, and wider religious setting of the writings and their relationship to the life and ministry of Jesus. The course offers students an opportunity to learn both the content of New Testament Study and its method, serving both as an introduction to the New Testament itself and as a foundation for further studies in the field.

Lecturer

Dr Peter Christofides

Peter was born in South Africa of Greek parents and moved to Australia in 2009.  Peter completed a MA (Biblical Studies) at the University of Johannesburg, where he also did a Doctorate (D. Litt et Phil) on Peace and Reconciliation.  He went on to complete a second Doctorate (PhD) on the importance of the role of the laity in the mission of the Church.  He is currently lecturing in Theology, New Testament and Greek at the University of Notre Dame in Fremantle. Peter has also pastored at Coolbellup Campus of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
